Toll Charges for 619 Area Code Phone Numbers

Starting June 1, 2018, anyone with a 619 area code phone number will be charged a toll for incoming calls. This new toll will apply to both landlines and cell phones and will be charged by the minute.This change is being made by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) in an effort to help fund the restoration of the state's 911 service. The CPUC has stated that the new toll will only apply to calls made to 619 area code phone numbers, not to calls made to other area codes.

So far, the reaction to this news has been mixed. Some people are happy that the CPUC is taking action to fund the restoration of 911 service, while others are unhappy about the new toll and feel that it is unfair.
